    Concession Shift Supervisor
    The Concession Stand Shift Supervisor is responsible for the daily operations of the concession stand and its staff. This includes but is not limited to the opening and closing of the stand, daily inventory, stocking supplies, checking register drawers and inventory at the conclusion of the shift, and being responsible for all staff and their duties. This employee works under the supervision of the Recreation Supervisor.

    KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS

    • Represents the Bloomingdale Park District, and Pool’s Concession stand in a positive
    manner at all times.
    • Opens and closes the facility daily.
    • Demonstrates strong leadership characteristics.
    • Inventories all items before the shift begins and/or after each shift.
    • Stocks all necessary items for daily operations.
    • Works a register while overseeing all other employees’ duties and monitoring or
    correcting staff where necessary.
    • Understands concession operations, can operate every piece of equipment, and has the ability to direct other staff members in their role in the daily operations.
    • Responsible for the maintaining a machine maintenance schedule with the supervisor.
    • Maintains accurate inventory, control, and register records.
    • Attends all staff meetings, in-service training sessions, and other staff-improvement activities.
    • Reports any irregular discipline, safety, or maintenance problems to the Recreation Supervisor.
     

    RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

    • Must possess the ability to communicate effectively with children, teens, adults and senior citizens.
    • Must possess maturity, responsibility, and a willingness to be the leader of the team.
    • Must be able to handle stressful situations or multiple stressors.
    • Must possess the ability to maintain self-control and composure when dealing with the public.
    • Must possess an ability to be well organized.
    • Must possess the ability to do scheduling and daily maintenance records.
    • Must have ability to prevent accidents and maintain discipline as necessary.
    • Must be willing to perform basic maintenance and repairs if necessary to equipment and machines when necessary.
     
    • Must possess and demonstrate a cheerful, pleasant, and helpful disposition to all patrons.
    • Will comply with all additional duties as outlined under Concession Staff.
     

    PRELIMINARY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Must be on time for all scheduled shifts.
    • Will fill out all paperwork: inventory sheet, temperature chart, etc.
    • Will stock all items to the desired amount.
    • Will get the banks out and prepare both registers.
    • Will get frozen items out of the stock area and transfer them into refrigerator.
    • Begin to prepare for daily operations.
    • Obtain proper certifications required.
     

    CLOSING RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Balance all registers at the close of shift
    • Complete all register paperwork and give it to the Pool Manager to deposit.
    • Complete all inventory, stock, waste, and necessary closing paperwork.
    • Verify with staff that all tasks have been completed.
    • Check all areas of concession and eating area to verify that they meet manager’s expectations.
    • Re-assign duties if necessary.
    • Excuse staff from their shift.
     
    WORK HOURS AND COMPENSATION
    The Concession Supervisor position is a part-time position and is paid every two weeks at an agreed salary. The position is classified as a non-exempt hourly employee status. No overtime (over 40 hours per week) is allowed unless pre-authorized by the Recreation Supervisors. The hours worked daily may vary. The pay range for this position is $15-$16/hr.

    ENVIRONMENTAL CONSIDERATIONS

    May be required to work in varying weather conditions, which could include cold, rain, and extreme heat.
     

    COGNITIVE CONSIDERATIONS

    The Concessions Shift Supervisor must be able to follow instructions from the Recreation Supervisor and co-workers. The Concession Supervisor must be able to give instructions to co-workers. Must be safety conscientious and use good judgment.
     

    PSYCHOLOGICAL CONSIDERATIONS

    • Works closely with co-workers.
    • Must work around the public.
    • Must work under supervision and direction of the Recreation Supervisor.
    • May have to work under stressful situations.
     

    PHYSIOLOGICAL CONSIDERATIONS

    • Works in a climate of various degrees Fahrenheit.
    • Occasionally lifts and carries supplies and equipment up to 40 pounds.
