Assistant Head Swim Coach (Seasonal Summer)
Title: Bloomingdale Barracuda Assistant Head Coach

Salary Range: $2,000-$2,500 per season, DOQ
Reports To: Aquatics Supervisor & Head Swim Coach
Nature of Work:
Under general supervision of the Aquatics Supervisor and Head Swim Coach, responsible for conducting a competitive swim team program that teaches the correct stroke techniques and prepares participants for competitive swim meets.
Primary Duties:- Coaches and attends all scheduled team workouts.
- Ensures the safety of team members. Develop safety rules and guidelines with both the swim and dive team.
- Helps head coach work with team parents to coordinate team and meet responsibilities.
- Projects a positive and professional image to parents and the public.
- Responds quickly and efficiently to all emergency situations.
- Performs related work as required and as directed by head swim coach.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:- Ability to follow routine verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to organize and cooperate with people of all ages.
- Attends swim team social functions.
- Needs to be able to communicate through email and other communication methods.
- Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
- Ability to enforce pool regulations in a firm manner while maintaining good public relations.
Minimum Qualifications:- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Coaching experience preferred.
- Must be available and flexible to work various hours during the week and weekend.
Working Hours and Compensation:
The position of Assistant Head Swim Team Coach is a summer seasonal only position and is paid every two weeks at an agreed salary between $2,000-$2,500 per season, DOQ. The position is classified as a non-exempt hourly employee status and will work a various number of hours per week. Physiological Considerations:
The Assistant Coach must expect to work extended periods of time on his/her feet and lifting or moving supplies and equipment.
Environmental Considerations
The Assistant Head Coach may be exposed to outdoor elements while supervising activities. Prolonged hours with exposure to sun, heat, rain, snow, or other natural elements should be expected. When involved with programs that are held indoors, the Assistant Coach may be exposed to conditionals such as lighting and temperature.
Cognitive Considerations:
The Assistant Coach must possess both the ability to carry out instructions given by his/her supervisor and think quickly and take decisive actions on his/her own. The Assistant Coach must have the ability to present ideas and recommendations in a clear and concise manner both orally and in writing. The Assistant Coach must exhibit good problem-solving skills and good judgment in keeping with the mission of the Park District.
