Functions: Under the direction of the Aquatics Supervisor/Coordinator, the Pool Manager will be responsible for supervising lifeguards on staff and making sure everything is running smoothly at the pool. Also, effectively managing and creating schedules for all guards.
Immediate Supervisor: Responsible to the Aquatics Supervisor/Coordinator.
Qualifications:
Knowledge, skill and mental development equivalent to the completion of high school.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Must have at least a high school diploma.
Current lifeguard certification.
Must possess or be able to successfully complete CPR and First Aid certification.
Must possess at least 2 years of lifeguard experience and must have working knowledge of the StarGuard Training Program.
Duties and Responsibilities: Essential Functions:
Supervision and evaluation of lifeguards, swim instructors, slide attendants, and cabana crew and support staff.
Training and testing of lifeguards.
Prepares payroll for all pool staff.
Assists with operation of pool filtration system.
Vacuums pool.
Performs and documents pool, chlorine, and pH reading for the pool.
Manages pool during open swim, swim team, and special events.
Assists in emergency procedures and pool evacuations.
Marginal Functions:
Assists in lifeguard rotation.
Cleaning of pool office.
Balances of daily receipt.
Other duties as assigned.
Work Hours and Compensation: The position of Pool Manager is a part-time seasonal position and is paid every two weeks at an agreed salary. The position is classified as a non-exempt hourly employee status and will work up to 40 hours per week. The hours worked on a daily basis will vary. Environmental Considerations: Inside, the Pool Manager is exposed to high humidity and 86 degrees Fahrenheit temperature. Outside, the Pool Manager may be exposed to the weather conditions, which can include cold, rain and extreme heat.
Cognitive Considerations: The Pool Manager must be able to follow instructions from the Aquatic Supervisor/Coordinator and co-workers. The Pool Manager must be able to give instructions to co-workers. The Pool Manager must be safety conscientious and use good judgment.
Psychological Considerations:
Must work closely with co-workers.
Must work around the general population.
Must work under supervision and direction of the Aquatic Supervisor/Coordinator.
Has responsibility for the safety of the general public in the pool and on the pool deck.
May have to work under stressful situations when First Aid or CPR is required.
Must be able to make decisions to ensure safety in the pool.
Physiological Considerations: The Pool Manager works in a climate of approximately 86 degrees Fahrenheit and high humidity. The Pool Manager has to be able to respond quickly and accurately. The Pool Manager handles chemicals when performing the water tests.
